About this local community
El Tesoro, 345 m above sea level and home of 210 people, is located only 2 km away from Echeandía and 154 km from Salinas de Guaranda. The road from the city to the community is lined with banana crops; a sensational ride on a bicycle.
The community farm which hosts tourists in this village is at the entrance to the community. Characterized by the treehouse, this farm is cozy, not only for its cabins made by eco-construction but also for the friendliness of the people who live there. The citrus-tour showing more than 35 different citrus plants will enlarge your knowledge and expose your taste-buds to new flavors.
Furthermore, the village is known for its coffee and cocoa harvest. The population lives on agriculture, taking advantage, as far as possible, of the sale of bananas, oranges, coffee, and cocoa.
